The Gift of Giving

The gesture of giving something meant to be given,
Makes any day, a meaningful celebration.
Gifts come in big packages, some in  boxes so petite,
Others are conveyed via words, in any way, they are alwiz a treat.

Some like them pretty, others like them plain instead,
But  I love mine in paper bags with a simple ribbon to decorate.
It's all about what's inside, but please don't be mistaken,
The gift comes secondary, what's  inside your heart is more important.

So give, give, give, not just presents wrapped in a fancy decoration.
Give your time, your effort, your kind words that need to be mentioned.
Give a nod of appreciation if you are least in the mood,
Or simply give a smile ...when you know you should and you could.

Give a prayer to strangers, wishing them good things in your heart,
And the angels will offer the same prayer for you, whilst you are in their guard.
It needs not be an expensive gift, or an extravagant present,
A sincere salam to the toll lady would lift her spirits up to heaven.

And once you have given all that the heart speaks true,
There will come a time when all the gifts will return to you.
A friend offers her time to hear you out,
When sometimes you feel like you want to shout.

Another comes running to your rescue,
When she stays back to finish your work with you.
When your car breaks down and you have the urge to cry,
A helpful stranger from nowhere, suddenly drops by.

And in some moments when work buries you in your place,
A smile from the kids turns that frown into a happy face.
Feel free to give as much as you know how,
And you will receive so much more, ... maybe later, maybe now.

And if I could help you choose a gift that stays in someone forever,
And remembers you, not only  for your lovely gesture,
I would hand you a piece of my heart and my soul goes into them too.
They are the core ingredients of all the cakes that I do.

All packed in the way I like to see them best,
Flavours of the delicious three, in a simple paper bag.
Try and give them to your colleagues
And witness a smile from their faces so big.

Your boss I'm sure would fancy them too,
He is just too shy to say it to you.
Your family would be delighted if you bring these back,
You can enjoy three different flavours all in one stack.

And when you feel you have given enough to all the people that matter,
Let's not forget to reward yourself later.
Take a spoon and open a pack with unabated relish,
For it's alright once in a while, have the cake to yourself and  be selfish!

                                                                               ~wiz~

Cake bars in white paper bags,

All three in one stack.

Some come in brown packages tied up with string,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Flavours of the three:

1. Choc fudge cake drenched in chocolate fudge sauce with couverture chocolate shavings.
2. Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting sprinkled with crunchy toasted almond flakes.
3. Jaffa cake, an orange cake drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with orange cream and choc chips.

All these for RM50

Have a prosperous month of giving, and as we know it already, tis' the most beautiful thing.

Road Less Travelled By

It's never easy to decide, on which road to tread on. A regular confrontation yet again of Robert Frost's

" ... two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both." affair.

It's upon this realization that one stands on a crossroad to choose between

the fudgy

picture taken from google
or

the fluffy

picture taken from google

And tries to be the wise gastronomic traveller who feigns the"... better claim" of making the right decision.

You need not look "...far down as long as you could" for these two roads have amazingly converged. Fluffy and fudgy, a cake and a brownie all baked into one. Soft and chewy with that special gooey chocolate sauce which seeps through the pores of your appetite, be it for a cake or a brownie.

And once you have sampled the "cakeabrownie" you will be glad to note that you have taken the "...road less travelled by" and as the poem aptly ends...

"...and that has made all the difference"!

The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

and sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

and looked down one as far as I could

to where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

and having perhaps the better claim

because it was grassy and wanted wear;

though as for that, the passing there

had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

in leaves no feet had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --

I took the one less travelled by,

and that has made all the difference

Basketful Of Wishes

Aidil Fitri often beckons the many gestures of giving and sharing. It's the one time of the year many hearts turn tender and sharing becomes an automatic response of the moment. Whilst Ramadhan teaches us to reach for the needy and the unfortunate, Aidil Fitri welcomes us to celebrate them and the people we love with sweet treats. Hence, the customary tradition of serving cakes and cookies with sweet beverages to the guests.

There are times when too much of a good thing becomes the least good for you and even worse for the older folks. Therefore, one needs to exercise a little bit of discretion in choosing what to bring and give. The best gifts would be ones you bake and make yourself but not many of us are granted the time to do so. The next best alternative is to have "wizcakes" with you. Made from low fat ingredients, each cake has alkaline water equivalent to mountain water as the base of its concoction. You can opt for an even healthier version, if you choose to have the vegetarian version of our chocolate fudge cake. The best thing about our line of cakes is that they can be stored in the freezer for more than 6 months. So just stock up and whenever the occasions call for them, all you need to do is to take them out and thaw before serving and savouring them.

As an act of sharing and giving this Aidil Fitri, wizcakes would like to offer the promotional pack of 2 cakes for 30rgt. Each cake weighs roughly about 400gm each. They are baked in paper moulds with flower decorations on the side and lastly wrapped daintily with  doilies and  ribbons to further enhance the "homemade" feel to the gift. There are two flavours, vanilla chocolate swirl and choc fudge choc. I can only bake so much so you do need to make haste and book your cakes now. Minimal order is a pack of two RM30. This promotion will continue on till the end of Syawal.

I wish only the best of Aidil Fitri for you, and may you reach your destinations safe and sound in the warmth of your family's embrace.

Take care, take lots of pictures and take to heart the beautiful experience of "Balik Kampung"

Warmest regards and maaf zahir dan batin

While You Were Sleeping

... I baked some cakes, for you to surprise your lovely mates. While you were sleeping, I ironed with patience whilst watching you do, the toss and the turn.

While you were sleeping, I wiped the floor, sometimes asking why you couldn't help me more. While you were sleeping, I also checked to see, if everything else was all neat and tidy.

While you were sleeping, I hummed a tune, hoping you didn't grow up on me too soon. While you were sleeping I sat by you, and all the bad, away I blew.

While you were sleeping, I talked to myself, praying for happiness and abundant of wealth. While you were sleeping, I looked at you who dreamed the dreams so beautiful I knew.

While you were sleeping, suddenly my grey hair grew, the wrinkles lined up more than a few. And while you were sleeping, my eyes came to weak, I could no more see without these glasses thick.

Then you asked me "...when did it happen?
... when did you grow old all of the sudden?"

It all came never by chance. Age does add up in a blink of a glance. I was here all along, with you I grew too. Only, you grew taller in my care and I grew more white, in my hair. ;o)

Little Muff Muffettes

These little poppers need no specific occasions to be enjoyed. A very convenient dessert to pack and go, to serve and  silence the munchkinos, as well as to store and hide from any other predators that might be lurking around for more. The muffs could exclusively be all yours (mwahahaha... imagine opening a box and popping one after another in front of the tv, only you and the muffs) or they could be generously shared between friends, collegues, sedara mara, adik beradik, jiran tetangga and guru-guru. However way and whatever plan you might have for the little muffettes, they will always be ready to accompany you and the others, chocolately.

Now...

the little Muffette fellas are queing up for your grabs. Order three boxes of muffs (each one consists of 49 pcs) for only RM100. Usual price is 45rgt per box. They come only in one flavour, the most favourite one of all - Chocolate fudge. The promotional period will go on until  the 30th of May.

At Pause...momentarily

A feedback received from a customer pointed out that my work was messy and not as expected. I now need to seek recluse in a cave somewhere and improve on my overall presentation.

With a sack of muffettes on my back, I now walk the long mile on a quest of cake perfection. If you see me pass by, offer me not solace nor consolation, it's solitude I am after. May this journey take me to a place where cakes are made to perfection without any hairline cracks nor any blotches of despair. And that place is definitely not here.

Spreading A Little Happiness

A cake isn't merely a concoction,
it's a confectionary tale,
of flour, sugar, and lots of passion.
A taste and sight for all to regale.
